11.4.2 Other anti-inflammatory preparations

General guidance
 

  • Many of these products are available over-the-counter from community pharmacies.
  • In hay fever, start using the products 2-3 weeks before symptoms appear.

Recommended drugs

1st line - Sodium Cromoglicate eye drops

2nd line - Lodoxamide

For acute symptom only

Antazoline (Otrivine-Antistin)

 

For children (≥4 years old) and adolescents with severe vernal keratoconjunctivitis 

Verkazia (ciclosporin 0.1% )

 

Drug Traffic Light Key:

Green – On Formulary

Amber – Restricted use, see local guidelines      

Purple – Specialist use/initiation

Red – Non Formulary
