7.2.1 Preparations for vaginal and vulval changes

• Topical HRT: topical preparations containing an oestrogen in the minimum effective dose may be useful on a short-term basis to improve the quality of the vaginal epithelium in menopausal atrophy. Longer term use will require an oral progestogen for 10-14 days of each month to present endometrial hypoplasia.
